1. Kenyans Engage in the Friend Tech app as it launches at the start of August:
Friend.tech, a decentralized social media platform that allows users to tokenize their social networks, has been the talk of town to some Kenyans. It is a dApp that allows users to sell "shares" of themselves to their followers. The price of a share is determined by a number of factors, including the user's follower count, engagement, and overall reputation. The shares are sellable to the market at any time.
2. Maringo App, a SocialFi Web3 app launches in Kenya:
Maringo app announces it is expanding to Kenya. Maringo App is a multipurpose social-fi app that combines traditional social media features with fintech and e-commerce capabilities. It aims to transform the digital social and finance landscape by leveraging Web3 technologies. It has announced its launch in Kenya with partnerships with Africa Meta Club and Mbogi ya NFT Club Kenya.

3. The Kenya Financial Reporting Centre (FRC) Launches a Public Survey on Virtual Assets:
The Financial Reporting Centre (FRC) is inviting the public to participate in a public survey on virtual assets (VAs) and virtual asset service providers (VASPs) in Kenya. The survey is being conducted to help the FRC understand the Kenyan ecosystem of VA activities and service providers, along with their benefits and the potential money laundering & terrorism financing risks. The survey is anonymous and can be completed online at www.frc.go.ke. The deadline for completing the survey is 8th September 2023.
